Soon after the school closure was announced, we checked in with a number of students to ask them what they’d be doing with their day off…
When will you wake up?
- Jane Mullin (12): “Probably 9 a.m.”
- Talen Frett (12): “9 a.m.”
- Louise Biggs (10): “Probably around 10 a.m. depending on what time I go to sleep tonight.”
- Lauren Smith (11): “Hopefully by 8:30”
- Wells Stribling (11): “I will wake up at 10:30 am and go downstairs and have a fire pancake”
- Zara Hebb (11): “I’ll probably wake up around 10”
- Carter Rumph (11): I’ll get up late, hopefully later than 9”
What will you watch?
- Louise Biggs (10): “I want to watch the new Netflix series about the Menendez brothers.”
- Jane Mullin (12): “Love Island. I still haven’t finished the new season, and I don’t know who wins yet.”
- Talen Frett (12): “I’m rewatching Heartbreak High right now, so probably that. They came out with season 2 like a few months ago, but I’ve already watched it and it’s my favorite show.”
- “Lauren Smith (11): “I don’t have anything to watch right now but I definitely will”
- Wells Stribling (11): “I’m going to watch Twister with Glen Powell at the theatre. You best believe I’m pulling up during the hurricane”
- Zara Hebb (11): “I don’t know what yet. May go see a movie with Wells, and if i don’t I’ll just watch a show.”
- Carter Rumph (11): “I don’t really have anything to watch, so i’ll probably scroll through my phone for hours”
What will you eat?
- Louise Biggs (10): “Hmm, hear me out, Starbucks for breakfast, Zaxby’s for lunch, and dinner is still up for debate.”
- Riley Tillman (10): “Most likely Crumbl, for the second time this week…”
- Talen Frett (12): “Cereal.”
- Lauren Smith (11): “Maybe a sandwich for lunch”
- Zara Hebb (11): “I don’t know yet. Oh I know, for breakfast, I’ll have a fried egg sandwich, and for lunch, I’ll have almond butter and raspberry jam. Why? Oh because it’s better than peanut butter and jelly. And for dinner whatever my mom makes”
- Carter Rumph (11): “An acai bowl from Frutta Bowls, or soup made by my mother.”
What homework will you do?
- Talen Frett (12): “Probably just work on college apps.”
- Bobby Briggs (10): “Nothing”
- Jane Mullin (12): “I’m not doing any.”
- Wells Stribling (11): “Nothing”
- Lauren Smith (11): “ American Studies”
- Zara Hebb (11): “I need to finish my Amstud essay and I have environmental science homework”
- Carter Rumph (11): “I do have a lot, but I’m happy because this gives me an extra day to catch up. Plus, I get to skip a spanish test and an ap bio quiz.”
Who will you hang out with?
- Wells Stribling (11): “My friends, maybe I’ll see the movie with them”
- Zara Hebb (11): “Wells or my brother”
- Carter Rumph (11): “I’ll maybe grab dinner with friends.”
What will you do if you lose power?
- Riley Tillman (10): “Well I’m scared my phone’s gonna die and I’ll be home alone.” “My brother is in D.C. for the 8th grade trip, my dad is in Dubai, and my mom’s flight home tonight from Phoenix is most likely canceled.” “If I call one of y’all up, most likely it is because I’ll need a place to stay…”
- Wells Stribling (11): “I couldn’t care less if I lost power”
- Zara Hebb (11): “I’ve been charging things all night/all day. If it’s night I’ll set up candles and make it moody to set the vibe. If its daylight I’m not doing anything”
- Carter Rumph (11): “I’m worried about not having wifi.”
